January 28, 2011All five of our FLL teams will be competing in the FLL Queens tournament at JHS 216:George J Ryan MS 216 64-20 175th street Fresh Meadows NY 11365 9:00 - 3:30 pm The Tournament is free and open to the public, please come and join us for a day of Robotics competition and celebration! Be sure to cheer for the Forest Hills teams! January 24, 2011The FHRL FLL teams will be sharing their Research Project Presentation about "Food Safety" with the Forest Hills Community and the Forest Hills Boy Scout teams. This event will be held on Jan 24th evening in the basement of Our Lady of Mercy (70-25 Kessel Street Forest Hills, NY 11375, entrance on Juno street) from 7:00 - 8:30 pm,January 7, 2011Forest Hills Robotics League will be having a Practice tournaments and Holiday Party for all of our FIRST Lego League teams. The event will be held in the basement of Our Lady of Mercy (70-25 Kessel Street Forest Hills, NY 11375, entrance on Juno street) from 12:00 - 3:00pm, followed by our Holiday Party from 3:00 - 5:00pm. The practice tournament will include the Robot Game as well as FLL Core Value judging. Each team will have four trials to run their Robot missions with each trial having two team members running the robot for two and a half minutes.December 3, 2011Our Junior FLL teams began their first meeting this weekend. With twelve kids ranging in age between 6 and 9 years old, parents and coaches worked together to explore Lego construction and WeDo robotics sets to create fun and exciting things!October 10, 2011Our FLL teams are actively learning all about food safety while working on their Robot for this year's FIRST Lego League's Food Factor Challenge.Some teams spent their Columbus day by attending a hands on Food Safety lecture and making a delicious and safe dish at the Young Chef Academy, Forest Hills. September 24, 2011NYC FIRST Kickoff was held at the NYU-Poly's Brooklyn Campus. Hundreds of FIRST participants from all five boroughs of New York City attended the general sessions and the various rookie workshops. An overview of the season regarding FLL and JFLL was presented in the Pfizer Auditorium. This year, additional emphasis is placed on Team Work. Scheduled Team work judging sessions will be added to all the tournaments. Teams will be interviewed about the Core Values, and be asked to do a 5-10 min activity together, while the judges observe the team member's interaction with each other.September 18, 2011The Forest Hills Robotics League will be showcasing our LEGO robots at the Maker Faire New York on Sunday 9/18/2011, check out the FIRST booth - New York Hall of Science.September 2, 20112011 Food Factor Challenge is finally unveiled on September 2. The challenge contains 3 parts: FLL Core Value, the Robot Game and the Research Project.March 13, 2011 Congratulations to all our teams for their fabulous performance in the NYC FIRST LEGO League Championship at the Jacob Javits Center! Forest Hills Robotics League attended the FIRST Championship with two Jr. FLL teams(Age 6-9), and three FLL teams(Age 9-14). Our Junior teams (Lego Monsters and Club Builders) participated in the Jr. FLL Exposition and showcased their research work and creative LEGO models in response to the Body Forward Challenge. They each won a JFLL award for their fantastic model and display!
Our three FLL teams (Planetary Forces, Robo Squad and Mindstorm Mechanics) competed for the NYC FLL Championship against 80 other teams from the five boroughs. Two of our teams walked away with the following awards:
Forest Hills Robotics League(FHRL) FLL teams performed outstandingly at the FLL Queens Qualifying tournament. Three out of the four FHRL teams are qualified and will be competing for the Championship at the Jacob Javits Center on March 13, 2011. The teams won the following awards:
The teams are thrilled to be qualified, and will be refining their Robot and Research Project to be ready for the Championship at the Javits Center! (3/13/2011) For 2010-2011 season, our club sponsored 4 FLL teams and 2 JFLL teams. Planetary Forces, iBot, Robo Squad and Mindstorm Mechanics, JFLL-LEGO Monsters & JFLL-Club Builders. Combined all six teams, we have a total of 41 kids. FLL The FLL teams participated in the FLL Queens Qualifying Tournament at the Aviation High School on Jan. 15, 2011. Three out of our four teams got qualified in Queens Tournament with the following awards:
Our two JFLL teams, LEGO Monsters and Club Builders, started their season from Jan through March. They explored the Body Forward challenge, learned all about principles of simple machinery and built their project model using Lego blocks. The highlight of the JFLL season is participating in the NYC Jr. FLL Exposition at Javits Center (3/13/2011). Both JFLL teams (Lego Monsters and Club Builders) attended the Expo and showcased their research work and creative LEGO models in response to the Body Forward Challenge. They each won a JFLL award for their fantastic model and display!
