NYC FLL Championship - Our FLL team BOTS (#3431) has already qualified for the NYC FLL Championship. Hopefully our three other FLL teams will be joining them for a chance to win the title at the NYC FLL Championship The event will be held at Bronx Science High school.

Robotics Workshops

Level 1 – Pre-Robotics – Essential Movement

-        Learning basic mechanical principles by creating simple and fun and motorized machines 

-     Learn how to use gears, pulleys, levers, wheels and axles to create fun kinetic machines.

Level 2 – Introduction to Robotics with WeDo Robotics

-        Design and build mini robots using the LEGO WeDo system.

-        Using motor and sensors to create intelligent robots

-        Learn to program the robots using WeDo software on iPad.

Level 3 – Robotics for Beginner with EV3 Robots (3A & 3B)

-        Design and build robots using the LEGO EV3 system.

-        Using motor and sensors to create autonomous robots

-        Learn to program the robots using EV3 Mindstorms software on laptops*.

-        Note: 3A and 3B are the same, just offering morning(3A) and afternoon(3B) options.

-        *Bring your own laptop (windows or mac)

FHRL Guidelines

- one adult must accompany each youth participant (under the age of 15)

-        Following the guidance of the NY State guidelines for P-12 schools, COVID vaccination is available and recommended but not required for kids 5 and above.

2021-2022 FIRST TECH Challenge Freight Frenzy Season

This season has been a very busy season for our two High School level FIRST Tech Challenge teams Gear Masters (8365) and-Mighty Mechanics (8721). Both teams are very excited to compete in person again. They both attended several qualifiers in the NYC Region and competed spectacularly in the NYC FIRST FTC Championship at the Dalton High School in early March. At the Championship, our teams won two Inspire Awards, with Mighty Mechanics 8721 winning the Inspire Third Place and Gear Master 8365 winning the Inspire First Place and qualified to attend the World Championship in Houston, Texas in April. We are proud of our FTC teams, and we wish Gear Masters all the best in representing NYC at the World Championship.

2021-2022 FIRST LEGO League - Cargo Connect Season



March 12, 2022 - Congratulations to our FLL team Legendary Cargo bot for winning the FIRST Place Robot Design Award and placing in the Fourth place in overall Robot Performance. The team is one of the only team that used the new LEGO Spike Prime robot system with Python programming languages. Thanks to the great leadership of our coaches Clayton and Flora for leading the team for the past six years, and coaching the team from young LEGO builders to amazing robotics experts! 




March 4, 2022 
Congratulations to our all girls team "Bobotics" for completing the FLL season and competing in the 
New York City FIRST LEGO LEAGUE remote competition. Despite not moving onto the Championship, the girls had lots of fun designing, building and programming their robot!



February 12, 2022 - Congratulations to our FLL team Legendary Cargo bot for winning the Champion's award 1st place, and having the Highest Robot Performance score at the High School for Environmental Studies Qualifier.

About FHRL

Forest Hills Robotics League(FHRL) is a non-profit volunteer based organization, our mission is to promote education in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (S.T.E.M) for children in our community through the participation in the FIRST Robotics program. (http://www.firstlegoleague.org) 

We sponsor FLL Jr., FLL and FTC teams, providing coaching and training for the teams on weekend (Saturday). This is an active parent participation program, if you enjoy spending time with your children doing something that is fun and educational, then this is the program for you and your child!

  

Each year's Challenge is released in late August or early September
For the 2020-2021 season, we are sponsoring 
  • 8 FLL Jr. teams (age 6-9, exposition teams)
  • 5 FLL teams (age 9-14, competition teams)
  • FTC teams (age 14-18, competition teams)
We look forward to a fun and exciting season of Robot building and researching of the season Challenge topics!

Registration
May - September
Typically, our Open house & Registration will be start in May. Waiting list will run between June and September. We typically do not accept member during the season (between Sept - May) unless there is an opening.

The registration is now closed for the season. The next registration will be on May/June 2022

Volunteer as a Coach
As a volunteer program, all our coaches are volunteer based. Typically, the coaches are adults who are interested in being more actively involved in the program. Coaches do not need to have previous experience. We will provide training and guidance to help you coach and manage your team. Remember, without coaches, we won't be able to have any teams. If you are interested in coaching, please sign up here.

Note: People accepted as coaches, can secure a seat for their kids on the team that they are coaching.
